About Us
Welcome to the Longhorn Motorcycle School web site. We are glad you
found us, and soon you will be too. LMS began as an idea among
friends to give area riders access to the track at MSR Houston. What
began as a few close friends has become LMS today, the best way to
experience the thrill of a closed circuit track environment.
As avid riders ourselves, we had done all of the tracks in Texas
with all the other providers and found we still wanted something
more. More seat time, more help in problem areas, better
organization, and experienced instructors to guide you toward your
riding goals. Every staff member at LMS is dedicated to helping you
become a better, safer, and faster rider.
Most of our events are run on Saturdays with an occasional Sunday on
regular member days at MSR Houston. Half hour sessions starting at
9am with the final session of the day at 4pm means a full four hours
on the track. Our group is designated by speed with reliance on the
rider to be truthful in their abilities. |

Novice
Novice only days are geared with the new or inexperienced rider in
mind. This is the place to start to get your feet wet in the track
riding world. Novice days are very instruction oriented with class
room sessions between session from 9:30 - 2:30. Topics such as line
selection, braking, acceleration, body position make up the class
room fare. Video is also used to show riders how they actually look
vs. how they feel. Lap times are generally slower and passing is
restricted in certain areas of the track. Instructor to student
ratio is 3:1 max and is limited to 30 riders. Limited Novice days
are offer each year, check the schedule for the next one.
Regular
Regular run group is the most frequent and most popular event. This
is our core group of riders, most of whom attend 70% of all dates.
The "Regulars" are an easy going bunch who feel more like a riding
club than a track day. Lots of bench racing between these sessions
as we all share tips and lines among ourselves. Instruction and
video is available and included, there is always and instructor
faster than you who can help you through to the next level in your
riding. CCS license classes are available on these days to get your
CCS Novice racer status for those who wish to take it to the next
level. Lap times are lower and the passing is left to your good
judgment.
Racer
Racer prep days are usually held the week before CCS or CMRA race
weekends come to MSR Houston. These runs are reserved for licensed
racers and the very fastest from the regular group. Lap times are
very fast and the ability to hold a line are critical. You will be
passed close and you will be passed often at any place on the track.
Not for the faint of heart or those lacking some serious skill on a
bike. You must hold a valid race license or get approval from the
staff to attend race prep. |
